Is the stock market open on weekends?
No. The U.S. stock market (NYSE and Nasdaq) is closed every Saturday and Sunday and reopens Monday at 9:30 AM ET. But the price never really stops moving, and WeekendIndex shows it to you 24/7.

Traditional exchanges close on weekends, so the official S&P 500 index value is frozen until Monday.
